Dubai Expo 2020: Everything you need to know

Dubai – A city of gold offering a myriad of fun, frolic and other activities for tourists and locals alike has finally launched the much-awaited Dubai Expo 2020. Did you know? Architectural feats such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Atomium in Brussels, and even the Unisphere in New York City, some prominent icons in their respective cities were originally formed as part of exhibitions for multiple foreign pavilions. Dubai Expo 2020 will be the country’s first exhibition, drawing inspiration from this architectural tradition, and expectations are definitely high.

The Dubai Expo 2020 has now officially opened its doors to all after being delayed from its intended launch in 2020 owing to Covid-19. For anyone curious to know how long it would last; the Dubai expo dates are from 1st October 2021 to 31st March 2022. Despite being postponed a year later, the Dubai Expo 2020 planners will not revamp the event. This pavilion under the MEASA region covers Africa, Middle East and will host about 190+ countries around the world. This event will be held in the subtropics of Dubai, around the Al Maktoum International Airport, and it will cover an approximate range of 4.38 kilometres.


– First held in London in 1851, a world expo is hosted by a country that invites other countries, corporations, and international institutions to participate.

– The international expo’s fundamental mission is to encourage education, growth, and innovation by fostering collaboration among people of various backgrounds, nationalities, and sectors of the economy.

– On November 27, 2013, the country’s candidacy for the Dubai Expo 2020 was officially acknowledged for the first time. This sparked a massive wave of celebrations and festivities across the UAE.

– Sustainability, mobility, and opportunity are among the sub-themes of the Dubai Expo 2020, which has the wonderful motif of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.”

– This regal pavilion in Dubai is anticipated to lure a total of 25 million visitors across 190 nations.

– This event will serve as a catalyst for change in the global situation by creating a platform for all thinkers, lecturers, technologists, innovators, and creative experts.

– A specialized Mobility District will be established to provide links that bridge the gaps between digital barriers and enable the exchange of ideas.

– Riding automated and futuristic vehicles and understanding space exploration programmes such as the Emirate Mars Mission and UAE National Space Programme are among the activities that will be conducted at this Expo.

-The Dubai Expo 2020 features an array of mascots which include, Alif, Salama, Rashid, Opti, Terra, and Latifa.

– Several cities bid for the 2020 Expo, including Yekaterinburg in Russia, Izmir in Turkey, São Paulo in Brazil, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. In a popular vote on November 27, 2013, Dubai overtook Yekaterinburg.

– This Dubai exhibition, which will offer over 270,000 jobs, will also include 200+ eateries, 100,000 participants, and 60+ daily live acts that will span the whole pavilion. 

– The entire structure of the Dubai Expo 2020 is designed in the shape of a falcon by one of the famed architectural designers: Santiago  Calatrava.

– Multi-Day Pass Adult (18-59 years) – AED 195

– Season Pass Adult (18-59 years) – AED 495

– Premium Experience Adult (18-59 years) – AED 1750

– Family Package Adult (18-59 years) – AED 950

– October Pass Adult (18+ years) – AED 95*

*On sale till 15th October 2021

Free access will be provided to students, kids and youth from 6 to 17 years and senior citizens.

Dubai Expo 2020 airlines

– Via Metro

It is the quickest and most environmentally friendly means of getting to the Dubai Expo 2020. It links the city of Dubai to the exhibition entrance and is known as the Dubai Metro Red Line. On Saturdays and Thursdays, the Expo Station opens at 06:15 a.m., and on Fridays, it starts at 09:15 a.m. The latest excursions from the Expo Station are at 00:00 from Saturday through Wednesday and 01:00 from Thursday through Friday.

– Via Car

If you’re travelling to Expo 2020 via an automobile, all major freeways will get you there. There is no charge for parking. Entry time varies from  Saturday through Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 02:30 p.m., and on special days, 8:30 a.m. to 02:30 p.m. The expo’s four main car parking sites are outlined below.

1) Opportunity parking zone (from E77 Expo Road) 

2) Dubai Exhibition Centre parking zone (from E311 Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road) 

3) Mobility parking zone (from E311 Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road) 

4) Sustainability parking zone (from E77 Expo Road or D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan al Nahyan)

– Via Dubai Expo 2020 Buses

You will be transported to and from the Expo 2020 venue through a specialised public bus network. It’s complimentary for Expo 2020 attendees, and you can catch it from a range of locations throughout Dubai and the UAE. Just recall where it drops you off because you’ll have to come back through the same gate.


Dubai Expo 2020 is open seven days a week and has a multitude of timings that attendees must adhere to. From Saturday to Wednesday, the expo is accessible from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. The timings will be 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. for Thursdays, Fridays, and special days.


– At the Dubai Expo 2020, prominent pavilions such as the UK Pavilion, Germany Pavilion, Jamaica Pavilion, Belgium Pavilion, Emirates Pavilion, and others would be present. These pavilions will tackle problems that humanity faces, whether they be economic, cultural, or social in nature. During the six-month span of Dubai Expo 2020, there’ll be a total of 10 thematic weeks.

– Delegates will be encouraged to engage in a variety of activities at the UK pavilion. Enjoy this pavilion’s groundbreaking experience, which was influenced by the likes of Stephen Hawking. The structural design for this pavilion has been designed by Es Devlin Studio and has been curated via AI.

– For the Jamaican Pavilion, guests will be able to experience exquisite calligraphy benches with fascinating slogans, as well as the inventive Sabeel fountains created specifically for the Expo. Exhibits, seminars, and many plays will be among the arts and cultural activities here.

– A robot band will flawlessly replicate all of Beethoven’s greatest compositions at the Germany Pavilion. It will also feature a series of flash mobs, operas, pop-up cinemas, and a dazzling show of creatures at Al Wasl Plaza.
