fee and 10 AM to 6 PM timings are describing a facility that has not been operating. No reopening date has been published.

The reason is a large redevelopment. In February 2026, Haryana Tourism Corporation issued a tender titled “Development of Adventure Tourism Hub at Tikkar Taal & Adventure Park, Morni Hills, Panchkula” under the Ministry of Tourism’s Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, which has notified Panchkula as a destination for development. Separate reporting in July 2026 put the combined spend on Tikkar Taal and Yadavindra Gardens at ₹90 crore, covering the adventure park, boating facilities and a luxury hotel with a rooftop helipad.

What this means for your trip right now:

Adventure Park — treat as closed. The forest goes deep green, seasonal waterfalls appear on the slopes, and the Ghaggar runs clean and full. Mist sits in the valleys through the morning. If you want Morni at its most photogenic, this is when.

The trade-offs are real, though, and worth stating plainly:

The roads get harder. The Morni climb is narrow with tight bends and long descents. Wet surfaces lengthen braking distances, standing water hides potholes, and mist cuts visibility on exactly the sections where you need it most. Times of India reported significant rain damage to Morni’s roads after the 2025 monsoon.

Boating is unreliable. It was suspended in August 2025 when the boat stand went under. Treat it as a bonus, never a plan.

Trekking gets risky. The Ghaggar riverbank route in particular should be skipped. Leeches are common on forest trails after rain.

Night driving is a bad idea. No street lighting, wildlife crossings, and no phone signal to call for help.

How to do it well: go on a day when rain is forecast to be light, leave Panchkula by 8 AM, be off the hill by 4 PM, and treat the drive and the viewpoints as the itinerary rather than the lakes and the trails. Morni is about the forest, the lakes, and the drive. With the Adventure Park closed since May 2025, it currently suits nature and road-trip travellers better than activity-seekers.

Is the Morni Adventure Park open in 2026?
No. It has been closed for renovation since May 2025. Haryana Tourism Corporation tendered its redevelopment as an adventure tourism hub in February 2026 under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, with a design and development phase of up to 12 months. No reopening date has been announced.

Is boating available at Tikkar Taal?
It is unreliable. Boating was suspended in August 2025 after the boat stand was submerged during the monsoon, and boating facilities fall within the current redevelopment. Confirm with Haryana Tourism before you travel rather than assuming it will be running.

How far is Morni Hills from Chandigarh?
Morni Hills is 45 km from Chandigarh and 35 km from Panchkula city. Haryana Tourism’s project documentation puts the drive at approximately 1.5 hours via NH-5 and State Highway 1 — longer than the one hour most travel sites quote, because the final stretch is narrow and winding.

Is Morni Hills safe to visit during the monsoon?
It is visitable but needs care. The main risks are slippery roads, waterlogging hiding potholes, reduced visibility in mist and rain damage on hill sections. Avoid night driving, skip the Ghaggar riverbank trek, and check the forecast on the morning you travel.

What is the best time to visit Morni Hills?
September to March, when temperatures sit between 10°C and 20°C and the roads are dry. Monsoon from July to September is the greenest and most dramatic but carries road risk. Summer is workable but hazy and hot in the afternoons.

Is Morni Fort open to visitors?
Yes. Morni Fort is free to enter and open roughly 9 AM to 5 PM, seven days a week. It was converted into a nature museum by the Haryana Forest Department and reopened in November 2017, with exhibits on Shivalik wildlife and conservation.

Where should I stay for a Morni Hills trip?
Morni itself has very limited accommodation. Most visitors base themselves in Parwanoo (~35 km), Chandigarh or Mohali (~55–60 km), or the Kasauli belt (~65 km) and visit Morni as a day trip. Parwanoo is closest for an early start; Kasauli works best for a two-day Shivalik loop.

Planning Your Trip

Morni is a quieter proposition in 2026 than it was two years ago. The Adventure Park is gone for now, boating is a maybe, and the ₹90 crore redevelopment will not deliver for a while yet. What remains is what was always the best of it — a forested hill road an hour from Panchkula, two lakes with no ticket counter, a fort with a genuinely good little museum, and almost nobody there on a weekday morning.

Give it a full day, or better, hang the weekend around it with a night in the hills.
