Diveagar, Shrivardhan and Murud-Janjira sit along one of the quietest stretches of the Konkan coast \u2014 close enough to Mumbai for a weekend, far enough south that the crowds thin out. Together they make the kind of loop where you get a gold-plated temple, an empty sunset beach and a 17th-century sea fort in one two-day run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing to know before you plan around that fort, though:\u00a0the boat crossing to Murud-Janjira is currently closed.\u00a0Authorities shut it for three months from 26 May 2026 as a monsoon safety measure, and it isn’t expected back until late August. That doesn’t sink this weekend \u2014 it just changes what the Murud leg looks like. Here’s the honest, current version of this trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TL;DR:<\/strong> Murud-Janjira Fort’s boat service is closed for monsoon (26 May\u2013approx. late August 2026), so the fort itself is off the table right now \u2014 Murud town and its beach are still worth the stop. Diveagar and Shrivardhan (20 km apart) are fully open for sightseeing; avoid entering the sea in monsoon swell.
