The Kerala rain alert for August 2026 has eased sharply: there is no red alert and no orange alert anywhere in the state as of 14 August 2026. Only three districts \u2014 Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki \u2014 are on a yellow alert today, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light to moderate rain across Kerala from 13 to 17 August 2026. Tourism restrictions were withdrawn in Idukki and Wayanad on 10 August, which means Munnar, Vagamon, Pallivasal, Kunjithanni and the Wayanad tourist circuit are open to visitors again. If you have a Kerala trip booked for Onam \u2014 Atham begins Monday 17 August and Thiruvonam falls on Wednesday 26 August 2026 \u2014 the honest answer is that you should go, with normal monsoon caution rather than emergency caution.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On 4 August 2026 the IMD placed eight Kerala districts under a red alert: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod, after the state recorded 205.8 mm of rain between 1 and 4 August against a normal of 73.2 mm, an excess of 181%. Twenty-five people have died and more than 18,000 have been moved to over 400 relief camps. If your trip covers Munnar, Wayanad, Idukki’s high ranges or any waterfall, postpone it. Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam are the only two districts that have stayed on a yellow alert throughout<\/strong>, and they are the realistic choice if you must travel between 5 and 10 August 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
