Current status:<\/strong>\u00a0The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has\u00a0withdrawn all red alerts for 5 August<\/strong>\u00a0and downgraded Kerala to an\u00a0orange alert in 9 districts and a yellow alert in 5<\/strong>. The 8-district red alert described in this guide was in force on\u00a04 August and the early hours of 5 August<\/strong>, which remains the peak of this spell. Rain is forecast to continue to\u00a010 August 2026<\/strong>.

On 4 August 2026 the IMD placed eight Kerala districts under a red alert: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod, after the state recorded 205.8 mm of rain between 1 and 4 August against a normal of 73.2 mm, an excess of 181%. Twenty-five people have died and more than 18,000 have been moved to over 400 relief camps. If your trip covers Munnar, Wayanad, Idukki’s high ranges or any waterfall, postpone it.\u00a0Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam are the only two districts that have stayed on a yellow alert throughout<\/strong>, and they are the realistic choice if you must travel between 5 and 10 August 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
