Gangtok

This is probably the least discovered yet the most beautiful city on our list here. Blessed with multi-hued skies and miraculously winding hill roads, Gangtok is a dream destination for mountain lovers. Tourists can also opt for a 20 minute helicopter ride from Bagdogra to Gangtok, which is operated by the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation, daily. 

By Rail

However, most tourists prefer reaching Gangtok by railways. The nearest railway station to Gangtok is New Jalpaiguri, which is 117 km far from Gangtok. Buses are available from here to Gangtok that will cost somewhere between Rs. 150 to Rs. 400 depending on the kind of bus you choose. The timings of the buses are fixed, the first bus leaves at 06;30 AM and the last one at 03:30 PM, with each ride taking around 4 to 5 hours in normal conditions. (May take more time depending on the weather conditions)

Kasauli  

Merely a 2 hour drive from Chandigarh, Kasauli is one of the most beautiful destinations to escape the harsh summers of the city. Perfect for a quick weekend getaway, Kasauli is often described as a hiker’s paradise, surrounded by lush greenery and majestic mountains. Shimla

If you wish to enjoy pleasant weather with a hint of heritage, Shimla is the way to go. Please note that the bus ride will cost you anywhere between Rs. 250/- to Rs. 1100/- depending on the bus operator you opt for.

By Rail – 

Travellers can take a train from Kalka to Shimla which is the cheaper, more efficient way to reach Shimla. There are around 6 trains that run daily and take 5 to 6 hours.

Coonoor
